The Table in the Window

Yesterday, I was worried.

Sales were soft. Bills were due. The future felt uncertain. I found myself doing what many of us do when we're under pressure: focusing on what was missing.

One slow day became the whole story.

Then something happened.

Earlier in the week, I was rearranging the shop after an unexpected change in our layout. Furniture was being moved. Plans were shifting. As I worked, I said a simple prayer.

I asked for help creating a space that felt welcoming. A place where people could slow down, connect, and find a little peace in the middle of life's chaos.

I had been thinking about adding a small café table near the front window.

Within an hour, my dad showed up with one.

A beautiful table and chairs set that someone no longer needed.

The timing caught my attention.

Not because a table suddenly solved all my problems.

It didn't.

The bills were still there.
The uncertainty was still there.
The work was still there.

But the table reminded me of something important:

This story, what we're building in our lives, in business, are bigger than fear.

Fear has a way of shrinking our vision. It takes a life filled with blessings, opportunities, relationships, lessons, and provision and reduces it to a single fact such as; "Sales were only $45."

Faith does something different.

Faith doesn't ignore reality.

Faith insists on seeing all of reality.

The challenges.
The opportunities.
The obstacles.
The provision.

All of it.

Stewardship Lesson #1

Fear focuses on what's missing.

Faith remembers what's already been provided.

One of my readings this morning included the story of Elisha being called to leave behind what was familiar and step into something unknown. Another reading reminded me to trust. The last daily reading reminded me to let my yes be yes.

Together, they painted a simple picture:

Commit.
Trust.
Take the next faithful step.

Not the next fifty.

Just the next one.

As business owners, parents, leaders, and human beings, we often want the entire roadmap before we're willing to move forward.

Life rarely works that way.

Most of the time, we're given enough light for today.

Not next year.
Not next month.

Today.

So when disappointment shows up, I've been practicing a simple phrase my mentor taught me:

So what? Now what?

Sales were slow.

So what?

Now what?

Someone criticized our work.

So what?

Now what?

The plan changed.

So what?

Now what?

It's not about dismissing disappointment.

It's about refusing to build a house within disappointment and live inside it.

Acknowledge it.
Learn from it.
Then take the next step.

Because tomorrow has its own problems.

Today has its own opportunities.

And sometimes, provision arrives looking less like a miracle and more like a table delivered at exactly the right time.

Remember This:

When Fear asks, "What am I missing?"

Faith asks, "What has already been provided?"

And when life feels uncertain:

So what? Now what?
